MAYOR’S MESSAGE
Submitted by Mayor Kelleen Potter
Happy New Year!!
I hope you enjoyed the holidays and made some happy
memories to appreciate in the future. I heard many
compliments about our city Christmas tree and how
beautiful our Main Street looked this year. Big thanks to
our City Staff who worked so hard to make that happen.
Our City Manager, Parks Manager and staff and Public
Works Manager and staff really went above and beyond
to make sure we had a downtown we could be proud of
this holiday season. I am truly grateful for our
professional, hardworking, and dedicated staff.
One way to get more involved in Heber City is by serving
on one of our City boards. We have many committed
citizens who spend long hours studying issues and
providing input to the City Council. One of our most
important boards is the Planning Commission. The
Planning Commission makes recommendations to the
City Council and in 2019 will be particularly busy and
influential as they help update our general plan.
This is particularly important as it will guide the planning
process for the foreseeable future and determine many
things about the future of Heber City.
We are currently accepting applications for two alternate
planning commissioners. The requirement is to be a
Heber City resident or own property in Heber City. The
regular meetings are the second and fourth Tuesdays at
6:00 pm. If you are interested, you can submit a resume and
letter explaining your relevant experience and why you
are interested to Meshelle Kijanen at
mkijanen@heberut.gov. I intend to make these
appointments in the next couple of weeks.
