A RESOLUTION DECLARING FEBRUARY 2021 AS CHILDREN’S DENTAL HEALTH
MONTH
Whereas, our community recognizes that the success of Heber City depends on supporting every
individual without medical insurance so they may pursue their dreams and strengthen our city; and
Whereas, we recognize that through dental education and regular preventative dental care, tooth
decay is almost completely preventable, and children can remain healthy and contribute to the
success of their community, as their healthy smiles are the cornerstone of our town; and
Whereas, research shows that through supervised tooth brushing programs and preventative care
children can reduce dental-related illness, which causes kids in the U.S. to miss 51 million of school
hours each year and school absences, which start as early as first grade; and
Whereas, through a balanced diet, brushing and flossing after every meal, and regular dental checkups,
children and adults can avoid cavities and remain healthy; and
Whereas, in 2020 children who reside in Utah, will visit People’s Health Clinic and receive dental
exams and education at no cost; and
Whereas, Children’s Dental Health Month is an opportunity for Heber City to unite citizens of Utah
to raise public awareness about the importance of preventative dental care for all people; and
Therefore, the City Council of Heber City, Utah, hereby declares February 2021 as Heber City’s
Children’s Dental Health Month.
