Code Enforcement

Overview

Code enforcement is based on general principles that apply to all jurisdictions involving public health and safety. The primary aspects of code enforcement are the safety codes designed to protect the citizenry from hazards that result from improper building techniques, illegal land use and any other activities that violate the public's right to a safe and healthy environment.

Effective code enforcement ensures a positive effect upon property values, and helps cities and counties to age without buildings and neighborhoods becoming eyesores. Code-enforcement policies operate on the principle that adherence to codes and ordinances, is the responsibility of every citizen.
