Section 6.02.010 Abandonment

For the purpose of this Title, the following words and phrases shall, unless defined differently in a particular section, have the meanings respectively ascribed to them:

“ Abandonment”  means placing or leaving an animal in an environment where the animal is separated from basic needs such as food, water, shelter or necessary medical attention, for a period longer than twenty-four (24) hours. Abandonment includes failure to reclaim an animal seventy-two (72) hours beyond the time agreed upon with a kennel, grooming service, or similar facility. Abandonment includes failure to sign relinquishment authorization.
